IMPROVED DESIGN REPLACES THE ALCL-RS3X and ALYB-RS3X!
These are Rectify Series drop-in speaker systems for Atlas Classic and Atlas/Kato (yellow box) RS-3 locomotives. There are TWO options available for either type.
The ALCL-RS3W speaker is for Classic/China models and screws in place of one of the weights. It can be installed in either end (or both ends!)
An option for the Classic/China version is also available for those who wish to retain all of the stock weight and are willing to sacrifice some depth of sound. A UFIT-0730 speaker can be install with thin mounting-tape to the motor with the driver firing down over a flywheel. A Nix Trainz Decoder Buddy N18+ can then be installed beside it, or a small bare-wired decoder if preferred.
The ALYB-RS3W is for the Atlas/Kato yellow-box RS-3 locomotives. Since the weights are free in these (gently held by tabs inside the plastic shell), this speaker installs in place of one of the weights, attached to the chassis with small strips of thin mounting-tape. The speaker can be installed in either end (or both ends!).
An option for the Kato/yellow-box version is also available for those who wish to retain all of the stock weight and are willing to sacrifice some depth of sound. An LLPR-PAXF speaker can be install with thin mounting-tape to the motor with the driver firing down over a flywheel. A Nix Trainz Decoder Buddy N18+ can then be installed beside it, or a small bare-wired decoder if preferred.
The Classic/China weight-replaced version can use a 21-pin motherboard (Decoder Buddy, TCS) in place of the stock PCB, but you will need to eliminate height-eating mounting-tapes and trim the excess pin-height once the decoder is installed. The Decoder Buddy N18/+ will fit easily, as will a Direct or PNP decoder. The Kato/yellow-box model is slightly too tight to facilitate the 21pin format, so the Nix Trainz N18/+ motherboard or Direct/PNP is recommended.
The weight-retained versions cannot use a Direct or PNP decoder due to their length. They must use a Nix Trainz Decoder Buddy N18/+ or a small bare-wired decoder.
The speaker comes fully assembled and tested.
